Me and Awesome Cupcake thought it would be nice to go to the cinema today, so we went to see Captain Marvel in 3D IMAX at ODEON Silverlink. There’s nothing quite like going to see a movie in IMAX 3D (or just IMAX) with your soda and snacks chilling in a recliner with good company,

So the 21st movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set in the 1990s and shines the spotlight on Carol Danvers, although she doesn’t realise who she is and she is being trained by the Kree to be a warrior to fight against the Skrulls (shape-shifting aliens who can mimic anyone right down to their DNA).
She, along with a team, is given a mission to rescue a Kree spy who has had their cover blown but the mission fails and she lands on Earth, where she tries to prevent a Skrull takeover and meets Nick Fury and Phil Coulson, as well as a cat called Goose.
The movie titles are very touching, they are a tribute to the sadly departed Stan “The Man” Lee. It was a lovely thing to see. He has a cameo in the movie too. Also don’t forget to watch until the end of the credits, there is a mid-credits scene and end credits scene.
I have to admit when I first saw the announcement for this movie I wasn’t overly keen, but I’d be going to watch it at the cinema regardless (I have seen every MCU at the cinema so far, don’t plan to miss any of them either) but it was pretty good and I quite enjoyed it. The soundtrack was pretty good too with predominantly female artists. However on the downside it didn’t really add anything to the MCU story which was a disappointment. It was good to see the younger Fury and Coulson as well as Goose, but in a lot of ways it felt like they were doing thier version of Wonder Woman.
I was also given a really cool poster after I’d seen the movie:

All in all this is an entertaining movie and worth a watch….now roll on April and Avengers: Endgame…
Captain Marvel is rated 12a and is at cinemas now in 2D, RealD 3D, IMAX 3D, D-BOX and iSense
