Quest for the WORST Movie Part 17: Muck

Man, I really cannot believe how many horror movies I’m going to to be going through for this quest. This little “gem” and a few others are courtesy of fellow horror hound Horrorbeard….I’m currently uncertain if I should be thanking him or cursing him…

I did a quick IMDB check on the cast and as soon as I saw that Kane Hodder was in this my interest increased a little…I mean, this man is the most prolific killer in cinematic history and the quintessential Jason Voorhees. The poster looked quite interesting too, so with an open mind I give it a go.

The movie jumps right into the action making you feel like you’ve missed part of the the movie and is a bit odd (now side note here…there is currently in production Muck: Chapter 1 which Kane Hodder reprises the role he has in this movie which could potentially explain why that happens but it’s still rather jarring) where at first a bunch of kids run out of a swamp in various states of undress with vatious injuries with different severity and then they basically chat for ages, which is basically prologue for the movie. They eventually see this house…its this only house in the middle of nowhere and they break in. One guy decides to go for help and the rest stay in the house. The people in the house meet the house owners, who aren’t the nicest of individuals…and have to choose between leaving the house and going back to the swamp to dealing with the house owners. The guys who goes for help gets help…eventually, but in the stupidest way. And then the movie stopped as abptly as it started…really? I mean REALLY?!

I don’t think there’s much that can be said about this movie. It was low budget. It was filmed over 19 nights (hence the constantly dark shots), the soundtrack was numbing. There was now CGI however which was cool, and the effects were all old school stuff.

I can’t really imagine anyone wanting to watch this (but there is bound to be a fan somewhere) but Muck is rated 18 and a aile on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital Download.
