Quest for the WORST Movie Part 20: Pledges

Thanks to my good friend Ferank Manseed who gave me the headsup on this. As soon as I’d seen how bad people thought this was I had to check it out! Cheers Ferank… Um, I think…

So…the Quest continues…and yet again we have another horror (big surprise here, I think I’m going to have to delve into superhero territory for the next movie or so maybe!) and this time we have the predictable teenage thing in the woods…or so you’d think. Ladies, gentlemen, hyperintelligent shades of the colour blue and Adam the Salmon…may I present Pledges.

I’m used to the teens in forest horror you know the one… teenagers are in the woods either by choice or dumped there, drink, do drugs and have sex then get killed off bog standard formula and I guess quite mundane if you see it again again and again and AGAIN but also if something works, why mess with it (except for trying to breathe new life into the genre?)? Any I settled down expect the typical really bad teens in the woods horror and got… Well, I got a bad movie, that’s for…aside from that I’m not actually sure what the hell I was supposed to be watching…

Everything about this movie is bad honest to Zarquon it really really is, yet somehow its better than Birdemic I’m not quite able to figure that how at this time. The acting is bad. The story is bad. The music is bad. The soundtrack is bad. The sfx is bad. The plot twist is bad. As you may have guessed, this movie is bad….REAL BAD. And the worst thing is this movie has an issue with sub genre too… At first it looks like it’s a psycho college person going round doing things, then wildlife, then a cult, the some kind of supernatural presence and then some kind of alien presence… I mean like what the everloving hell??

This is a low budget movie and it truly shows (I’m guessing with the budget they had you’d not even be able to purchase anything from the dollar store if they had a half price or less sale) and I fear that my IQ may have been lowered by watching this awful piece of trash.

Some movies have been made for a bet (MANOS:The Hand of Fate).

Some were made after alleged disasters (Foodfight!).

Some movies were made by people who genuinely think they have become movie masters (Birdemic franchise).

Some movies were made for no reason (Rubber)

What category does this thing belong in? I mean seriously?!?!?

If you really really must see this movie (some people like to torture themselves for fun after all, some of us are on a quest to see if there is a movie that us worse than Birdemic…, some of us just are plain crazy) The Pledges is unrated (I’m truly not surprised, they were most likely too confused to rate it) and it’s available on DVD but not in the UK (Best bet is to import from US)
