ANT-MAN 3D DOUBLE BILL

I love it when sequels to Marvel movies come out. For the most part they do a special at my local cinema where you can see the previous movie featuring movies starring the main character (I wish ODEON would do a MEGA marathon for Avengers 4…however that could be a tad pricy as it would be 22 movies showing and it would be just over 2 days to watch them all…I’d need some serious snacks and an epic coffee from the Costa in the cinema!) in 3D and with Ant-Man and The Wasp being released, I thought it would be great to the the Ant-Man 3D Double Bill.

Ant-Man

I loved the first movie but unfortunately was unable to see it at the cinema the first time around so this was a great opportunity to correct that.

Scott Lang is a cat burglar who has just been released from prison and wants to go straight, yet his friend has lined up a job for him. Lang tries to get employment but with a criminal record finds it really difficult and after being fired from Baskin Robbins (queue ongoing joke..they always find out) he decides to check out what this job is, which turns out to be breaking into the safe of millionaire scientist Hank Pym. Lang breaks into Pyms House and steals a suit, which after playing about he discovers the suit has technology in it that shrinks the wearer down to the size of an insect! Lang then discovers the robbery was a setup and Pym wanted him to break in and take it, making him Ant-Man. Lang then helps Pym keep the secret of the size-altering technology by stopping Dr Cross using the technology and creating armies for the highest bidder (which turns out to be Hydra).

The movie is great fun and has a good combination of action, humour and the action scenes are not too bad in 3D either.

Ant-Man is available on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital in 2D and 3D

Ant-Man and The Wasp

If you’ve seen Avengers: Infinity War, you may well have been asking one question…no, not why did The Hulk do what he did… But where was Ant-Man?

This sequel shows that Scott waiting to finish his 2-year house arrest after he participated in the battle in Civil War and there are only days left before he is a free man. Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are fugitives on the run because they were guilty by association after Lang’s actions.

Lang has a security business he runs with Luis and a few other associates (all ex-convicts) and Pym and Van Dyne are trying to build a machine to bring back wife and mother Janet Pym by building a machine that would help them retrieve her from the Quantum Realm. While obtaining the parts for the machine from a black market dealer, Van Dyne encounters Ghost, someone who was in an incident that caused their molecules to destabilise and means that he can phase in and out giving her the ability to walk through walls and also it makes it hard to attack and hit them.

With a loss as to what to do after getting Lang to help again, they reluctantly go and ask Pym’s former SHIELD colleague and one-time friend Bill Foster.

So, with shrinking and growing (bigger than Goliath) Lang and Van Dyne go out to save the day and defeat Ghost.

The movie was an enjoyable watch and had the same humour and action as Ant-Man does, so if you liked the first movie you should like this too. There are 2 end credit scenes to watch too.

Ant-Man is rated 12A and available on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is rated 12A and is in cinemas now in 2D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D.
